EU Cookie Regulations (e-Privacy Directive 26th May 2011)
The majority of the web pages on this site use "cookies" to improve your experience and personal use of this website. In brief, Cookies are tiny text files, placed in your computer's browser to record and store your individual preferences whilst navigating our website. This website and most others, have always adopted this practice but a new EU law on cookies (e-Privacy Directive) - legislation which applies to how these cookies and other technologies used for logging and storing user information on devices such as desk top computers, laptops or mobile devices, was actually changed on the 26th May 2011.
These "cookies" help us to understand how our website is being used, so we can make various improvements to content and offers, based on this useage. Tracking code like Awstats and Google Analytics, assists us in recording unique visits to the website - be they new or returning visitors, the traffic sources that played a part in bringing you to our website and so forth. In addition to the website itself, cookies are used as well in our online Instant Messenger system called ClickandChat and likewise, with AddToAny - which is a web widget at the top of each web page, for bookmarking and easy sharing of our content with other people across the Web.
Please note that Cookies do not provide us with anything personal about you as an individual...not your telephone number or email address etc - in fact, no personal information whatsoever. However, should you choose to supply such information through the processes of making a purchase, signing-up to a newsletter and so on, then this is the only instance where recording of personal data happens. If you decide to provide such personal information, these details may then be linked with user data stored in the cookie. By way of further explanation, a cookie can be likened to a ID Card in as much that it is totally unique to your device and is readable only by the supplying web server.
From time to time, we may also use Remarketing advertising through Google Adwords and Doubleclick. Having visited certain pages on our website, when you then visit other similar websites or websites containing information on a similar theme, you may see our display advertisements on those website too. As before, no personal information is collected, just Cookie data as previously described.
When a purchase is made, we use that personal information you have provided to process and confirm your order, make deliveries and so. At no point do we collect or store Credit or Debit Card details as all Card processing is carried out by approved, third-party providers such as PayPal or other Card processors and in this respect, all transaction are encrypted and fully secured. The only other instances where we may use the personal information provided through a purchase or a Newsletter sign-up, is to send details of website up-dates, special offers and new product information.
